“ The Parish Councillors and Clerk of the Staunton on Wye Group Parish Council wish to express their condolences and respects to Annie Powles and family following the death of Austin Powles on Thursday morning.
Austin had long been a Parish Councillor and our Chairman for a considerable number of years. He had a deep love for the village and for the community and that showed in his contributions in Parish Council meetings. Austin did not just talk. He would often be found working in the playground attending to the fabric of the equipment and improving its qualities for the enjoyment of the local children.
Austin will be remembered by Staunton on Wye group Parish Councillors with deep and great respect. He was a man who gave of his time and energy and support . We will miss him as a Councillor and as our Chairman.
